Board Member Training
- Continuing Education Requirements for School Board Members
- Training Opportunities/Links:
- Open Government Training – required for board members within the first 90 days of service. Consists of Open Meetings Act and Public Information Act.
- TEA School Safety – required for new board members within the first 120 days of service, required for experienced members every 2 years.
- New School Board Member Boot Camp – generally offered the first Saturday of the month following elections, and meets several of the early requirements. Next session: Saturday, June 6, 2026
- Experienced Members –
- TASB Spring Workshop at Region 9 ESC (face-to-face) – Thursday, March 26, 2026 – Up to 3 hours of additional education training credit (Note: Credit is issued by TASB)
- Board Training Conference – Saturday, June 6, 2026 – Available Face-to-face at Region 9 ESC or via Video Conferencing – offers a “menu” of options that can meet Teambuilding and additional education training credit requirements.
- Evaluating and Improving Student Outcomes (EISO) – Saturday, June 6, 2026 – Face-to-face at Region 9 ESC only. May also be scheduled for presentation at the district. Contact Brian Bibb or Dana Parrish to schedule.
- Individualized district training may be scheduled to meet the district’s needs. Contact Kenny Miller or Dana Parrish to schedule.
Superintendent Searches
- Region 9 ESC will assist school boards with the search process when there is a vacancy in the superintendent position. Contact to Kenny Miller or Contact to Darren Francis or 940-322-6928 for more information.
