Adult Education & Literacy

Welcome to the Adult Education Center at Region 9 ESC! The Adult Education Center provides adults with sufficient basic education that enables them to effectively acquire the basic educational skills necessary for literate functioning; participate in job training and retraining programs; obtain and retain employment; and continue their education to at least the level of completion of secondary school and preparation for post-secondary education.  We have many partners throughout our 11 counties of the North Texas Workforce Board (Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Montague, Wichita, Wilbarger, and Young) that we serve and continually seek to build new partnerships to improve our services and provide classes to the communities that we serve.

VISION
  • To deliver education, workforce, and post-secondary education and training transition outcomes for students through innovative service delivery and partnerships that result in efficiencies, alignments, and accountability.
MISSION
  • To promote and support a responsive and accountable system that creates value and supports local solutions to addressing the educational and workforce development needs of Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) customers, businesses, and community stakeholders. 
GOALS
  • To provide support for adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and economic self-sufficiency;
  • To provide support for adults to attain a high school equivalency;
  • To provide support for adults to particpate in postsecondary education and training through concurrent or Co-Enrollment in Workforce Training programs including through co-enrollment in Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs; and
  • To provide support for adults to enter or advance in employment including, prepare for unsubsidized employment in in-demand industries and occupations that lead to economic self-sufficiency
