Dyslexia Services

Dyslexia Services:

Region 9 offers professional development sessions on dyslexia awareness and identification, and on how to support students with dyslexia in the classroom. Districts can also receive individualized technical assistance with dyslexia policies and implementation questions.

Following is a link to TEA’s webpage for Dyslexia and Related Disorders. The site provides a link to The Dyslexia Handbook 2021 Update and “Appendix A—Dyslexia Handbook FAQ” in both English and Spanish.  The Handbook provides SBOE-approved procedures concerning dyslexia and related disorders. It also gives guidelines for school districts to follow as they identify and provide services for students with dyslexia. Additionally, it provides districts and parents with information regarding the state’s dyslexia statutes and their relation to these federal laws: the IDEA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
