Instructional Resources Specialist
I am a 1985 graduate from Throckmorton High School in Throckmorton, Texas. I attended Tarleton State University in Stepehenville, Texas from 1985-1986. I graduated from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma in 1990 while my husband was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. I received my School Librarian Certification from the University of North Texas in 2003.
I currently serve as the Instructional Resource Specialist for Region 9 ESC.
My first three years of teaching were in Panama while my husband was stationed at Ft. Clayton. I taught first and sixth grades at a couple of the Department of Defense Dependent Schools on base. I then moved back to my hometown of Throckmorton, Tx with my family and worked there for 21 years. I taught third grade for nine years before getting my Library Certification. I worked as the PreK-12th grade librarian, as well as, teaching technology classes at the high school for eight years. I spent my last four years at Throckmorton teaching third grade once again.
I married my classmate and best friend,Charlie Balthrop in 1987. We are both 1985 graduates of Throckmorton High School. We have two sons, Cole and Keith. Cole is a 2011 Throckmorton graduate and just recently was honorably discharged from the US Army. He is attending Texas Tech University and engaged to married in June 2018. Keith is a 2016 Throckmorton graduate and attended Jacksonville College in Jacksonville, Texas to play on the Men’s Golf Team. He completed his Associates Degree in December 2018 and is now attending Texas Tech University. Even though we are now officially empty nesters, we still have our three sweet rescue dogs, Nellie, Bella and Tank to keep us company.
I am an avid reader and love exploring new authors and books to share with my teachers and students.
