Integrated Education and Training and Civics Education

Integrated Education and Training (IET) is defined in WIOA Section 203(11) as a service approach that provides adult education and literacy activities concurrently and contextually with workforce preparation activities and workforce training for a specific occupation or occupational cluster for the purpose of educational and career advancement.  According to the definition, each IET course will have three components which the student will complete: 

  • Specific adult education content (ESL, HSE, Workplace activities)
  • Workforce preparation activities (Basic Academic skills, digital literacy)
  • Workforce training competencies (Occupational Skill Training)

 

Civics Education (CE) is defined as services to include instruction in literacy and English language acquisition and instruction on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and civic participation, and may include workforce training.
