Related Services Network

Related services are such developmental, corrective, and other supportive services, that may be required to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education and to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.  The Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee will determine the need for related services, in accordance with the student’s evaluation and ongoing assessment data, to support academic and functional areas of instruction.

Region 9’s Related Services Network is designed to provide technical assistance and training to promote best practice service delivery by the region’s school-based Occupational and Physical Therapists.  Therapists meet at least twice a year to:

  • Review current national, state, regional, and local information on issues related to school-based therapy;
  • Provide support via networking and problem-solving;
  • Identify trends and issues and collaborate on projects that address these needs;
  • Establish consistent and compliant practices within the region;
  • Link to educational, health/medical and community resources and agencies; and
  • Create and nurture connections for practice and professional development.
